When I Remember Nothing at All
Sing me a song
That I can recall
When a time comes
When I remember nothing at all,
Leave a picture of yourself,
With your name written there.
Then, I can reach to touch you
In the darkness of despair.
Write me a letter,
With my name at the top,
So I can feign to think ~
When all my memories stop.
O yes,
Sing me a song
That I can recall
When times come
When I remember nothing at all.
Leave a light on, in the hallway,
To light my way in the dark ~
So I won't be afraid
When memory affords no spark.
Write down a story
Of what we did and said,
That I might have a flash
From a memory that is dead.
Alzheimer is a threat to
Make a person with no past.
Cling to me and hold me, right now.
Maybe, the memory will last.
O yes,
Sing me a song
That I can recall
When the time comes
When I remember nothing at all.
DEDICATED TO ALL WHO HAVE SUFFERED FROM ALZHEIMER
OR LOST A LOVED ONE TO IT, OR HAVE LOST THEM IN THOUGHT
BUT THE BODY STILL LINGERS.
