John The Baptist
John was a prophet (sent from
heaven above)
To preach of God's Kingdom,
repentance, and love.
John never preached for his glory
or money;
And he lived in the wilderness,
on dried locusts, and honey.
He fashioned his robe from an old
camel's hair,
Strapped on with a leather belt.
Then, he would roam the country
by the Jordan River,
And pray to God about spiritual
things he had felt.
Then, God told John to preach by
the river.
So, John proclaimed, day and
night.
He spoke of the love and
forgiveness of the coming Savior
And how following God's ways had
proved right.
John baptized many people who
were saved in the waters.
In the depths of the Jordan
River,
He said, "A King is coming
soon, who is mightier than Me.
And their lost souls, He will
deliver."
Then, Jesus came down to the
river;
Searching for His baptist, too.
Then, John said, "Instead of
You coming to me,
I should be baptized by
You."
Then, Jesus emerged from The
Jordan River,
Encircled by a dove.
The heavens opened. The angels
sang.
And, God sent down His love.
When Jesus looked up toward the
heavens,
After kneeling on bended knees,
God smiled down upon Him,
And said, "In You, I Am,
well pleased."
