Little Andy
~About My Little Sister~
Hi, Mr. God. Are you up, yet?
It's me , little Andy.
I know I am here a little early.
Here, you want some candy?
Just take as much as you want.
Momma bought a whole lot.
They're all sleepin' 'cuz they're tired,
'Cuz of that new baby that we got.
She's kinda cute, I guess.
But, she cries--specially at night.
Maybe she is scared of the dark,
After mamma turns out the light.
She's not like me, she doesn't know
That you sent angels for all of us.
If'n she knew that, Mr. God,
Maybe she wouldn't fuss.
Yesterday, she smiled jest at me,
When I told her who I was.
She jest kicked her feet and cooed;
S'pose like all babies duz.
She sure uses a lot of clothes.
Mamma's always wash'n for her.
She wets a lot and spits up.
That's for sure.
The way I figured it out, Mr. God,
She has to wear all those little dresses.
I don't think she likes um.
So, she fusses and makes a lot of messes.
She can't talk you know
but she can spit bubbles and likes to giggle
When I sing to her, she looks around
I think she wants to dance, she can wiggle.
Mr. God, hey are you awake
Or did she keep you up all night, too?
I was wonder'n
Is that what girls are s'pose to do?
Did Jesus cry, at a lot, at night.
Or, did he know the angels were there.
O, don't know if you forgot, Mr. God.
But, you didn't give sister any hair.
Mamma says she'll get some pretty soon.
So, she has to wear girlie clothes
Or you wouldn't know if she a boy or girl.
Jest in case, mamma puts on her head some bows.
Mama calls her a little angel, from God.
Well, the other day, I peeked to see.
She didn't have any wings.
She ain't no differ'nt than me.
I told mamma. But, she jest smiled.
It doesn't matter. She doesn't need wings
And she ain't got a halo either.
She jest duz, little baby angel things.
Mr. God, Sir, I bet I got you up.
Do you wanna go back to sleep?
Jest want to tell you 'thanks' for sister.
She looks good enough to keep.
If momma and daddy want another baby
(If it's alright with you),
I would ask for one more think.
Would you send me a puppy, too?
Well, tell Jesus I love him and
Sorry I got you up so early, today.
Maybe, you can get a nap.
I'll just run and play.
I would'a brought you some coffee.
But, momma won't let me cook.
She tells me, "Little Andy,
Go and read your little book."
I guess I'll se ya later
And, maybe, Jesus will be up, then.
If there's a better time for me to come
Just call and tell me when.
Bye, for now.
Your friend,
Little Andy
