Never Stop Dreaming
I struggled, wildly, through confusion,
Under great duress.
I tore at it. I stumbled,
I cried out in deep distress.
Breathing hard, I faltered.
My heart stood still, with fear.
My feverish brow was lathered.
I brushed aside each tear.
Nowhere could I find a path
To lead me in my way,
All was empty wilderness,
Just a lonely cold foray.
The wind whipped up a frenzy.
Thunder claps rolled loud.
Lightning flashed across the sky,
Revealing angry, lowering, clouds.
Voices cried, "Come back."
My heart beat wild with fright.
I sought to escape the darkness,
The sadness of the night.
What of those haunting doubts,
Saying what I shan't;
The voices calling from the past,
Calling, "No, you can't."
Suddenly, the earth, it shuddered.
Then, all stood deathly still.
I watched the raindrops glisten
Gently as they fell.
The colors of the rainbow
Dried the tears upon my face;
Gentle dripping, caressed my mind,
Like intricate white lace.
My eyes lifted to the heavens,
As sunbeams filtered through.
The clouds rolled back, like parchment;
Unfurling panoramic view.
For, there, before me, stood a gate
Open ... swinging wide.
It beckoned me with welcome.
So, I, quickly, slipped inside.
The path led through a garden,
As lovely as desired.
Golden beauty glowed before me.
For this, I had aspired.
I peered into the distance
And saw such glowing light
Alluring me to push ahead,
To leave behind the night.
Thus, I ventured forward
Until a staircase greeted me.
I glimpsed ahead, the castle,
And my name called, tenderly.
Suddenly, my worn dress
Became purest white.
I felt myself drawn up.
The turrets faded out of sight.
Compelling love drew me forward,
Ever on my upward flight.
Lift, yearning, exhausted fight
Exploded into everlasting light.
My dream come true forever delight
Prince of life.
