Silent in the Twilight
How can I stay silent,
while waiting here below,
As the moonlight softly whispers
it's enticing good night glow?
For, if I didn't whisper back,
the sea and sky will shout
Aloud, in all their glory.
They are, always, crying out.
Could I stay quiet in the twilight,
when the rocky hills echo
With mysterious sounds of wonder:
aged secrets that they know ...
While thunder shakes the heavens,
as You ride upon the storm,
Sending lightning bolt display
from the power that You form?
What do I know of constellations,
to make every season work;
The laws of the universe,
in Your dominion, over all the earth ...
Wisdom to count the clouds,
to tip water jars from high above?
When the dust becomes too hard,
You pour forth of Your love.
The making of doors to close the ocean in
and shaping earth like clay.
The eagle soars at Your command,
the sky as his domain.
You watch the doe give birth to fawn,
the donkey running free,
And clothe the horse with flowing mane;
such designs of novelty.
Where was I, when you laid
Your earth's foundations down,
As You marked off each dimension
beyond what I can understand?
The morning stars You formed,
to celebrate as one.
And when the angels shouted
in wondrous joy, all the heavens rang.
How can I stay silent when, above
all this, You love me, still;
From the moment of my birth,
as all my life You fill.
How can I not live my life
in deep awe of Your voice?
For, I hear it, deep within my soul;
to listen my delightful choice.
How can my heart not smile
when Your fragrance flows so free?
Wafting through the many shadows,
Your heartbeat comes to me.
How can I not praise you
with my lips, my life, my heart,
When You are here, Oh, Father,
so near in the dark?
Yet, I will stay silent, hushed,
And bow myself to You.
Overcome by Your presence
and all You are to me,
Your love, I know, is true.

Is there any God besides Me? No, there is no other Rock. I have made you,
I will not forget you, I have swept away your offenses like the morning mist.
Return to me, for I have redeemed you. Sing for joy, O heavens, for the Lord has done this;
shout aloud O earth beneath. Burst into song, you mountains, you forests and all your trees,
for the Lord has redeemed His people. Your Redeemer who formed you in the womb.
I am the Lord, who has made all things, Who alone stretched out the heavens,
Who spread out the earth by Himself.
Isaiah 44:8, 21-24
